Workshop safety software for mechanical workshops

A mechanical workshop runs on its hoists and its compressed air. WorkshopSafe puts the checks they need, and the records behind them, in one app the whole team uses on a phone or tablet.

What the mechanical workshop starter list sets up

When you start, you tick the kind of workshop you run and WorkshopSafe loads a starter list: each piece of equipment with its checks, how often, and whether your own team or a service company does them. For a mechanical workshop it adds:

  • Vehicle hoists: a weekly check by your own team, and a yearly inspection by a service company.
  • Air compressor: drain the tank weekly; a yearly service and pressure vessel check.
  • Trolley jacks and stands: a monthly check.
  • Eyewash station: a weekly flush.
  • Waste oil tank and parts washer: monthly checks.
  • Oil and water separator: a monthly check, and a yearly pump-out and service.

Every site also gets the emergency equipment first: fire extinguishers, hose reel and blanket, emergency lighting, exits, the evacuation plan, first aid, the chemicals register and spill kit, test and tag and safety switches. Rename, remove or add anything; the list is a starting point, not a verdict on what your site needs.

Each hoist and compressor gets its own QR label. A technician scans it, taps their name, enters their PIN and ticks the check, with a photo if something fails. Service company visits are recorded against the same hoist, with the certificate attached.

WorkshopSafe’s starter checklist in the live demo, with Mechanical workshop ticked: hoist, air compressor, jacks and stands, eyewash, waste oil, parts washer and the oil and water separator, with what it adds to the demo site’s register
Settings, Starter checklist, in the live demo: tick Mechanical workshop and load it. Each card counts what it adds to that site’s register, so a site that already has some of the equipment sees fewer.

Who asks for what: WorkSafe, EPA and NMI

WorkSafe

The starter list adds risk assessments for hoists, compressors and other plant, and health monitoring for anyone exposed to isocyanates, silica or other listed substances. A notifiable incident counts down the 48-hour written notice to WorkSafe until it is recorded.

EPA

Separator service records and waste transport records sit on the readiness list, marked as something the EPA asks about, beside the separator’s own checks.

NMI

Nothing for a mechanical workshop on its own. If you also sell fuel, the service station list adds the fuel dispensers.

Each readiness line is ranked by what a gap could lead to, so the most important fix comes first. WorkshopSafe keeps the records; it does not replace advice from a qualified safety professional.
